Looking at a 2021 Lund Tyee 1975 with a 225 Pro XS. Other boat I am looking at is a 2021 Ranger 2080MS with a 250 Pro XS. Which boat will handle rougher water better and which boat will have a higher top end speed? Lund is about 1975lbs and Ranger is about 2400lbs.
Also, is there much difference in the regular Mercury 4-stoke and the Pro XS except for a couple miles per hour better top end speed? |

Ranger is faster in flat water, Lund is better in rough water.

both will be fast enough, and both great boats. Ranger will be way more fun to drive, drier and will ride better in rough water.

I'm only concerned about catching walleyes and don't care about which boat is faster.
Lunds certainly catch more walleyes than Rangers. How could Lunds not catch more walleyes than Rangers? After all, Lunds were designed to catch walleyes from their inception and not those green bass like Rangers. ![]()

![]() OP, I am personally a Ranger guy but I think both are great boats. I have found the ride in rough water to be better in fiberglass boats in general, the angle of the hull and the extra weigh seem to cut through a wave verses landing on top of the wave like the aluminum boats that I have driven. One thing is certain in life, there will always be a debate over fiberglass vs aluminum boats on WC. I recommend blocking off some time, search the forum, and read about 100 threads on that topic. I think you will find that there is no "right" answer. I say get the boat that fits your fishing style and budget the best. |

Pro XS is 22lbs lighter and max RPM are 200 RPM higher. There are likely some software differences internal to the motor as well. |
