Default Francis case reservoir walleye.

Hey guys just made two trips to Pierre and have decided it’s a long drive lol. Wanting to learn how to fish Francis case. How do the walleye migrate throughout the system? Same tactics work as on oahe and sharpe? Do most guys pull bottom bouncers? Thanks guys.

Also are there any good guides to hire for a day to get a idea of the system?

I grew up fishing at the Big Bend Dam and was just in Chamberlain last week for a week. Bite was really good.

Bottom bouncers/spinners with crawlers are usually the rig of choice. Rarely do you see anything much different. We had the best success at 1.4 mph.

The fast water up in front of the dam almost always produces. The last two years we've had the best luck at Crow Creek and the White River. Use your GPS to track where you've been and waypoint where you catch fish. I'd go back over the same spot 3-4 times and catch fish right on top of the waypoint each time.

Edit: The North Bay One Stop just north of the marina in Chamberlain is our go-to bait shop. They have given us the correct advice and put us on fish the last 2 years.

Thank you for you’re info. Pickstown would be at the southern end correct? Is there anywhere to stay other than chamberlan and platte? Are you talking like Colorado and Indians blades or smileys propellers ect?

Where to stay is an issue with that area of the river. Not much population there to allow for lodging. Chamberlain is probably your best bet.

Yes to colorado blades. We were using mostly solid colors. Orange, Green, hammered gold/silver, and purple worked the best.

Plain slow death hook and maybe a bead on a bottom bouncer is doing well

Thank you it might be next year before I make it to Francis case. I have a broken down boat right now. I’d prefer to get a new boat before going to case. Don’t really want to break down and be stranded.

You can fish Case the same ways you fish Oahe. There is 2 motels in Pickstown, a casino with hotel on top of the hill about 5 miles East and a motel in Wagner about 15 east of Pickstown. Also a couple of motels in Lake Andes. I haven’t stayed at any of them in years but they are typical ma and pa motels catering to fishermen.

I am on Francis Case almost every weekend and would be willing to help you out with what’s working for me and structure types if you remember to PM me. I typically don’t post up information where everyone in the world can see it.
