Default Lowranc efuel managment questions

I finally installed the Lowrance Fuel Data Manager and the Lowrance Fuel Flow Sensor. Running a Yamaha 70 interfaced with the HDS unit via the NEMA backbone. Engine tach, temp and alternator "gauges" work fine.

Both new sensors are recognized in the device and data source menu and appear to be functioning OK, but on my HDS unit with the Engine data screen the fuel level "gauge" is "greyed out" while the other active "gauges" are lit up. I've went to the setup and gave the tank size and "filled" the tank on the refill page. Still no active fuel gauge level indicated as it is "greyed" out.

Suggestions?

Default Lowranc efuel managment questions

What is your fuel remaining source set to?

Also, if you have the f70, you do not need the Lowrance fuel flow sensor. The engine has that already and it sounds as though you may have two fuel flow sensors on the network.

Your fuel remaining source should be set to engine/fuel flow. Since you have two in the system, I do not know which would be used or what affect this would have.

Also note that if you want to use the Lowrance fuel flow, you can’t use the fuel data manager, so again there may be some confusion amongst the networked devices.

I just went back and looked and under "Devices" there is no listing for the "Fluid Level".

I first tried it WO the Lowrance fuel sensor and since it didn't work I installed the Fuel flow sensor. I agree, I thought the F70 had it's own fuel flow sensor. I can unplug the Lowrance and continue to trouble shoot.

Fuel remaining source is set to Global (I think)

Thanks Frank,

I think the system is functioning as it is supposed to. I've come to the conclusion (right or wrong) that the "gas gauge" on the Engine page is only functional if hooked to a fuel transducer on the actual fuel tank.

I made the ASSumption that it was used as part of the fuel management system and was how I could read remaining fuel percentage. I wish that were true as it would sure be nice to have a "analog appearing" fuel gauge that had the look feel of a real fuel gauge, but more accurate.

I have the readouts of fuel used, trip fuel, etc.. So I guess that is how I get the information I want. I need to tinker with it for a while to get comfortable with using it.

Thanks Frank.
