Dholete,
For these larger units, it is certainly to your advantage to go away from the round ram mount style electronics mounts and go with a manufacturer that uses a flat rotating mount that has 0 give in the mount.

These mounts are absolutely rock solid, have next to no vibration and the mount does not change position, no matter the water or waves that you travel over.

There are several different manufactures that make this style mount.
Do your research, and install the mount that works for your particular installation.

I second the CISCO bracket.

This is the first year I used them and I will use them again next year. Very happy with them and absolutely no creep.

Price is ok too at $100.

Default Bracket

Yes I cut in my Humminbird 958 used for mapping in the dash Rock solid
I took off the 2.25 Ram and put it on the shelf
I was going to use the Stabil system and found that I could use the existing Humminbird bracket and mounted it right to the dash of my 620 Rock solid

So I have the 998 above and the 958 below

That is how I had my last one with the Old Tom Backer Bracket and that was Rock solid

All is well now with no movement and happy

Default Bert's Mounts

Bert's makes an electronics mount that I used on my Yar Craft when I worked at Navionics. The mount slides into one of the heavy duty mounting tracks and many time it works without having to add a backing plate as Jason H suggested. But it also depends on what is underneath the area where you are mounting the plotter. Never a bad idea to get some 3/4" 5 or 7 ply marine grade plywood and cut out a backing plate for under the dash in the mounting area. Eliminates any question of rattling.
