Suzuki. And if you have a desire to have a 20 horse after, all you have to do is change 2 parts and it will make 20 HP.

I have a Yamaha T8 2005. Once in a while it is a little hard to start. It normally happens if I have not used the boat for awhile. It starts fine the rest of the day. I would always pick the kicker that makes the least amount of noise. Plus the least amount of vibration. So I would pick the Yamaha. Since you do not have power steering. The
12 amp verses the 6 amp Yamaha should not be an issue.

You folks that have the Yamaha with the carborator, do you use non-ethonal/recreational fuel ? I have found all my small engines with carborators start a lot easier with non-ethonal fuel. Sometimes they still need some coaxing, but do start. I am also looking at a kicker motor for my boat for the spring.

I try to get non ethanol when possible. In Southeast Wisconsin Milwaukee area they do not sell the premium Rec gas non ethanol. It at least a 35 minute drive to an outside county that has it. I try to fill up with non ethanol in spring and going in to fall for storage.

I have a Honda 8 HP kicker. Just got it installed on my new boat, and it was strictly a back up on my old boat, so not run very much at all. I always would run the fuel out of the engine before I was done with it, and never had trouble starting it.

Picked up a new 15 hp Suzuki EFI kicker last year for my Tyee. Electric start and tilt work great. FYI the 9.9-15-20 hp are all the same weight. It was explained to me that they just use different fuel mapping to get the additional hp. Was planning on a 9.9 - but found a deal where the 15 hp was the same price. Later added an I-Troll for fine tuning speeds. Couldn't be happier.

Thanks to all that gave their advice/recommendations. I just couldn’t pass up a deal on a 2019 Yamaha T9.9.

You made a good choice! Always drain the carb bowl at season end after running it out of fuel and you’ll never have any issues. Bin running Yamaha kickers for many years and never had a fuel related issue.
