Most excellent tow vehicle. On my second one. Between the two have put on over 330,000 miles. Minimal maintenance.

To the OP: Keep in mind that the 2014 GM 6.2 is a completely different motor then the pre-2013's (more power and better fuel economy). Didn't know if you were looking at brand new or just "newer".

Also on the 2014 Sierra Denali's the 6.2 isn't standard so you can't assume it has this motor just because it is a Denali trim (just a heads up if you were to look around).

The new 2014 EcoTec 6.2 has 420 HP and 460 ft. Lbs. of torque and is rated at 14 MPG city and 20 MPG highway, which is only 2 MPG's less than the new 5.3. I can't wait to test drive a new 6.2, they are a power horse!! The old 6.2 is no slouch at 403 HP and 417 ft. Lbs. of torque. I thought an EcoBoost was in my future, I'm not so sure now!

Default .

what I'm looking at is the new 2015 Yukon Denali LT. Comes with the 6.2 6 speed trans and a 3.42 rear end.
At this point it's more of a want than a need . I have a 2004 Suburban with 36,000 on it has never seen snow or salt so if the deal isn't right I very happy with what I have. Looking is half the fun and really in no rush to make a move.

Thanks again for all the input

if you are looking at an EB get ready to pay for gas! I have a 13 and will be driving a gm 6.2 when they hit the local lot.

I lease the GMC Yukon XL Denali on two year intervals and have had some sort of Suburban/Yukon XL since 1994. I know have a 2013 with a 2015 on order. The engines get stronger every year, but the 15 has some nice new features. Magnetic Shocks, Power hill assist, trailer brake control standard equipment, and being able to put in four high and four low, which I missed having with the previous all wheel drive Denali.

Great vehicles that hold up well.

Are you sure you want the 3.42. My experience is a bit different as I've had two GMC Conversion vans over the past 14 years. My 2000 van had the 5.7 with the 3.73 gear ratio while my 2010 van has the 5.3 with the 3.42 gears. I can get up to 17 mpg on the highway without my boat. Around town it seems closer it's about 14. Now with my boat a 2007 619 Ranger Fisherman I get about 12, however, I notice with the 3.42 gears it does appear to struggle at times on the steeper inclines on the road while I didn't notice that with my older van and the 3.73. I know we are not comparing apples to apples here with what you are looking at but I just thought I'd toss out my experience with the gear ratios. That being said I put more miles on my van with out the boat than with it and just realize it might take me a little longer to get up some of those steeper hills.

I like the 3.73 but cant get it as an opption. I was told with the 6 speed it should be fine. No rush to buy so i'll watch what people have to say once they're out.
