Default Which Monfiliment

I am spoiling my reels for the season. I have used Stren MagnaThin for many years. I had issues with it last season and it seems like it is being phased out. What does everyone recommend for 4lb., 6lb. And 8lb. Monofilament? I liked the thinner diameter of the MagnaThin. Had great luck with Suffix ice line. What is the best? Not interested in braid.

I rarely use mono on my spinning reels anymore. But when I do I keep it simple with trilene xl.

I use Stren regular, Trilene XT, and Suffix elite, and have been happy, one line I really liked was D.A.M. Techtan, but a few years ago I got a spool of it that I wasn't happy with and haven't used it since.

Hard to beat Berkley Trilene XL. While I use a lot of braids and superlines for most things, still use Trilene on slip bobber rigs(8) crappie rigs(6) and trolling rigs (10).

I've tried a half a dozen others over the years and have always returned to XL.

Trilene xl has always been my mono of choice...never felt like I needed to change, but I'm sure there are some other brands that are very good as well.

I’ve been using Sunline Supernatural 16lb .013 for a few years now and like it very much.

Cabela's Proline...........I think years ago it was Stren....at 1/4 the cost....still very well priced but I haven't had to purchase any in a long time because I always purchased the big spool... it might not be the best but it sure works for me......

I'll second Cabelas. Never had an issue with the 6 or 12 lb line.

I've really taken a preference towards the Sufix Elite over the past 5 years or so, but you're not going to get hurt with a Trilene XL or XT either. I just think the Elite is that line that falls right between the XL and XT for toughness and suppleness.

Been using Trilene XL on my UL and ML rods for a number of years without any real issues when walleye fishing. Landed a 44" pike using 8 lb test. Using it for a trout fishing trip this weekend.
