Default Why do I need 400 HP

I’ll be ordering one of the new 2020 Ranger 621s within the next month. They changed nearly everything I was hoping they'd change! I’ll probably never fish the Great Lakes for what it’s worth but..... However I do fish a couple of large lakes here in NV regularly. Both are 25 miles long and 10 to 15 miles wide. One is at 3,600 feet while the other is at 6,200 feet so I was pretty much locked into ordering with the 350 Verado so I could get the super charger to retain more of the power at elevation. I’ll retire in the not too distant future and plan to expand my fishing into other large western lakes but nothing much bigger than these two lakes. Both can get dangerous real fast but that’s rarely been in issue even in my 40 MPH Crestliner....

Given the 400 Verado HP is now available in the 2020 621 and 622 why should I, or anyone for that matter, opt for that beast instead of the 350 Verado or even the 300 Pro XP? How can anyone who’s a recreational fisherman really justify needing a 70 MPH boat? I admit, it’d be really cool to be able to go that fast.

Please fire away and help me decide

You won’t get 70 anyways unless under perfect conditions. Have a buddy that has a 621 with a 400R and mid to upper 60s. Maybe possible to get a little better with different props and fine tuning. But it is a big boat that hauls a$$

If you can justify a 350 then it's not too hard to justify 400.
