Mounting transducer for Helix 7 portable

I plan to convert a Helix 7 to make it portable. I've noticed some outfitters just mount their fish finder transducers to boards and c clamp the boards to the boat. It seems like a simple inexpensive simple way to mount a transducer and allow for easy adjustment. Has anybody had issues mounting their transducers like this?

Never had an issue with this set up. I've done it for years going to Canada. Like you said, simple, inexpensive, and makes any adjustments super easy!

Agree. Check clamp each time out. those little boats do some vibrating. The cable and board don't fare well with the prop. Bob

Decades ago I purchased a junk transom mount trolling motor. I used the mounting bracket and a piece of thick wall conduit to fabricate a portable mount. Still use it today with a Helix for my little John boat.
