Arrow 249 new lakes(Ontario) with Navionics

For my friends that fish the province of Ontario, some great news from Navionics:
Today Navionics released and already live in all products, 249 lakes new lakes. These are public lakes with varying contour resolution. The lakes are in yellow within the white polygon so this graphic give you an idea of the distribution. This brings the total lakes available in Canada to 6250

Andre, were these lakes charted on the water or are they based on the contour maps that used to be available for purchase? I was quite surprised when those maps were no longer available.

Thanks for checking. I like maps and have many, including all the Ontario depth maps previously available. Little detail but better than nothing and at a buck apiece, a heck of a deal. Not many hazardous areas were shown but knowing where the deeper areas were helped travel. Even printed on plastic although a few were on paper. Years ago when I inquired why they were no longer available, I was told "the maps don't provide enough detail".....what a lame answer. Versus no mapping, any depth map was certainly better.
Oh well.
