Default New marine radio

My on board marine radio is finally ready for replacement and I've started shopping. The most important feature to me is ease of scanning multiple channels. My old Lowrance unit had to be reprogrammed to scan every time I powered it down. Does anyone have a recommendation for a radio that will scan 3-4 channels without having to reprogram? Thanks, Mike

I purchased a Standard Horizon GX1700 last fall. I have it installed but have yet to put in the channels I want to scan. It will scan up to 10 channels you input yourself. Have always had this brand on every boat I have owned. 16’-30’. Hope this helps your search.

Mike, I would recommend getting one that has a speaker on the mic - much easier to hear transmissions

whatever you get I recommend getting one with built in gps. I just bought a icom m325g for just over 200.00 off ebay. but I don't know if it has programable scan. I don't use scan so I just don't know. but it has built in gps that I registered with boatus. now if I have a problem on the water I just push a button and the coastguard gets all my boat info and my location without me having to tell them.

I just glanced through the manual. and if I read it right it has programable scan. I also checked ebay and they only have one and its 210.00 or best offer. and I remember I bought mine from the same guy. I offered him 200.00 and he accepted it.

I just checked amazon and the run from 259.00 to over 500.00 for the same radio.

Take a look at the Standard Horizon GX2100. Very good quality, full featured. I bought at the GPS Store. Very good prices

I've been using the Standard Horizon's for 20 years now....along with the Shakespear 5225-XT 8' antennas....no complaints.

I also like this model. I can say that this model is quite simple and reliable in operation. In terms of price/quality ratio, I think one of the best on the market. I recommend buying too.
