Hello: Check out the Smith @ Wesson Victory. Its a stainless steel gun at a very reasonable price. The Smith and Wesson 41 Is a great gun but I don't think you can touch one for under $1000.00 As someone said go to youtube. Check out .22 plinksters videos. Good Luck. O - R

I was just PM'd so info on the S&W line, seems the Model 22A had some problems.

I would still put the model 41 on the top of my list, I have all three of the pistols I mentioned and it definitely is a better and more fun to shoot of the three.

At about a $1000 it may not be the most feasible plinking gun though, depends on what you want to spend.

Bought the Ruger SR22. Have shot at least 200 rds. so far. Really like it. Only downside is one of the mags will be changed out as it jammed on occasion.

Run the mag for another couple hundred rounds before you decide it's a magazine problem.

Try to track where in the magazine the problem occurs. First round? Last? that may help isolate the issue. Maybe it's truly a magazine feed lips issue, maybe you're riding the slide. Other shooters of your gun experience the same problem?

If all else fails, call Ruger. They've got some of the best customer service in the industry.

I called the shop where I bought it and got a replacement which works fine

I have a SR-22 as well. I shoot mine suppressed. It's a absolute HOOT to have a "hearing protection optional" day at the range!

I have a Browning Buckmark & a Ruger SR22. Both are excellent guns. No mis-feeds or jams with either. I like the size of the SR22 a little better and it's easy to clean. Can be concealed very easily if you want to do so. It was bought for my wife to learn to learn about guns & to target shoot.
