Motorguide Xi5 speed
I bought a new Xi5 36v last week, installed it and 3 new interstate group 27's. I'm only getting 1.2 mph max speed on a calm lake, my fiberglass boat and motor weight is about 3500 lbs. Shouldn't I be able to get a little more speed than that? I barely had any boat control on a 10 mph windy day. I called Motorguide and was told they do not test for speed with these motors. I know the batteries are charged, does anyone have any thoughts? I plan on checking voltage at the plug and load test the batteries.

I didn't know there were different plugs. There were two in the boat when I picked it up last week. It was prerigged for a 36v system from the factory.
One more note, my big motor was trimmed all the way up also. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I think the 36 volt motors will still run on 24 volts. My guess something is not wired right for 36 volts. Either that or one of your batterys is defective. That can happen. it should show up very easy with a load test. They do have very cheap testers with probes you can buy. They will light up showing 12, 24 or 36 volts on the indicators. Now that I look at my tester it jumps from 24 to 48 indicators. You might have to use a digital voltage tester. It should read higher then 36 volts. As 12 volt batterys read higher the 12 volts.

Yes you are correct Snowking, these motors will turn very slowly with 24v. I have a 18.5 tyee, and i get around 5mph on a calm day so there is definitely an issue some where. As mentioned before, get a meter and verify voltage, first on battery terminals, then at plug receptacle. If you have full 36v then theres something else going on. Check to make sure your prop is not slipping.

Well,,,,,, I tried.
Rather than sit in my hotel room all evening, a little research led me to a dealer 1/2 hour away that claimed to have your 206 Allure on the floor. Sure enough, there is was, but with a hard-wired bow mount TM, no plug to investigate. All is not lost though, there was a Hooter's nearby, since it IS Wingsday Wednesday. HRG

I can get around 3MPH with an Xi5 on a ZV21....
Something is not right with the wiring because you're definitely getting full power..
