Default Top speed on trophy 185 with a suzuki 175?

I'm currently at around 15 hours on my motor and only hitting around 42-43 mph. Does anyone have this set up getting better performance?

I suggest that you have a knowledgeable someone look at your setup, and perhaps put your motor on a dyno.

Under normal circumstance, I see no reason why you should not be hitting 50 mph with that boat and motor.

Maybe something is going on with your motor, prop, engine height or another problem.

I would certainly think that you should be getting much better performance from your rig than the numbers you posted.

Take care

I'm currently using a Water grip 14 3/4 X 23R prop on the motor. Is that the same as yours?

Any clue what hole your motor is mounted in?

The first thing I would look at is the height of the motor. On a different rig I experienced a 10 mph increase at WOT when I raised my motor from the 1 to the 3 hole. You canít prop the motor correctly until the height is perfect. Dealers have a tendency to set motors too low.

How many rpms are your turning? Sounds like a lot of pitch for that combo.

Suzuki motors have a weird ratio and the props are taller.
Not sold on the Suzuki motors. They are most definitely slower.

I agree on 50ish + with a 175 on that boat

RPMs and your elevation would help with guidance.

Here is a pretty good read on props for the Suzuki 175hp motor:

https://www.thehulltruth.com/boating...uki-df175.html

You might try a 3 blade 16 inch x 21 pitch Suzuki prop on your motor and see how it goes for you.

There are a few other suggestions in the link posted above as well.

Try before buying and then you will know.

Remember, as the article states; there are a lot of important things to decide on when choosing a prop. Top speed is just one of them.

I rather suspect that after running a new engine and rig for a while and trying some different props many if not most folks finally end up using a prop for daily running that is a compromise on the best top speed for better hole shot and on plane performance.

Best wishes
