2007 Ranger Reata 1850 Spare Tire Almost Stolen
Some low life tried to steal my spare tire. I added a lock to the cup that holds the tire at the center but its made out of plastic and apparrently it flexed allowing this dirt bag to force it out. Fortunately I added a small cable lock that I had sitting around and tha t prevented him from stealing it. Apparrently they didnt have security in mind when they decided to use plastic. I'm going to beef up my cable since the current one could be cut with regular pliers. Wondering if anyone else out there is securing there's in a more effective way? Luckily no damage and no need to buy a new rim and tire. What stinks is that I suspect that the person parked next to me... A fellow Ranger owner with a similar trailer, was responsible for this. If anything I thought he would look out for a fellow Ranger owner and be careful pulling his trailer out. I dont like to wish bad on others but I'm hoping bad karma comes his way. What a low life!

Put a 100,000 volt taser on your spare tire.
Then, if someone touches your spare tire, without turning off the taser, say good night! |

Look closely at the pic below, I use a McGard wheel lock that fits the 1/2-20 stud, yet would be pretty difficult to remove with pliers or such.

Not a good picture. This is what it looked like when they pulled it off the locked cup.the cup goes through the top of the center portion of the rim. Notice that the only thing holding it is the thin cable. I like the taser idea . I'lll have to take a pic of the plastic cup. It would be nice if they sold a metal version that doesn't flex. Going out this weekend. I'll take a pic then.
