Default HDS 8 networking question

I have an HDS 8 at the console of my Tyee, and would love to network to a bow mounted finder without having to use trolling motor transducer, so I can get readings without having trolling motor in water.

What Lowrance models can I network with? Does it have to be another HDS? Considering the Elite 4, if it will network.

Thanks in advance for any insight.

Bluefin2 - IN order to share (scrolling) sonar data, you will need to network with another HDS unit. If you just want temp and depth you can share through NMEA2000 if available on the unit.

Default Hds

Your going to need another HDS unit and an Ethernet cable to network.

There are really some good deals on HDS gen 2 right now plus some rebates. I would call BBG and get some prices. Linking your units to work together is the deal.

I asked Lowrance this question

"Can I share sonar from one transducer between an HDS 7 GEN 2 and an x510C. If i can what equipment will I need to make it work"

and this is the response I received

"
Thank you for your inquiry.
Aaron,
You will need to purchase an Ethernet cable. You also need to make sure the X510c is updated to version 2.5.
If you have any other questions please reply back.

Thank you for choosing Navico products!"

thats correct

you dont NEED an HDS, just a unit that is ethernet compatible (has the yellow ethernet port on the back)

I just picked up and HDS 8 Gen 2 from Scheels for $1399.00 with 0% interest for 6 months and $75 back in gift cards. Seems like a good deal to me. I am going to mount it at the counsel and move my HDS 8 Gen 1 to the bow and eternet them.
