Well it finally happened.
I am having to spend some real money to repair my 2000 135 Optimax with 1,176 hours on it both the lift and high pressure fuel pumps went out. Compression is excellent ( running Amsoil and using 10% ethanol ) this is only the second real repair I have had to do to this motor the first was just a bad injector. I did change out the steel reeds for fiber a few years back ( precautionary fix ) but that is it besides normal maintenance. So in 21 years of use if I include the injector repair and this one this motor has cost me about $1,400 in 21 years of use for what I would call a major repair.. The pump replacement is $1,100 of the $1,400 total of had to do repairs.

Pump sounds expensive but, overall that doesn't sound too bad and figures out to $1.19 per hour of use.

Not bad Tom, alot of trouble free good years fishing out of her it seems. That 1100 is part and replacement i will assume so I don't think that's too out of line. Hope you get another 20+ out of her

Awesome news! Not a bad deal at all. Good luck fishing, I've only been up to pool 4 once, stayed at Cedar Ridge. I was primarily a bass fisherman then so i just fished the backwaters and never made it to Pepin ( kicking myself for that). Post a report if you get out, tight lines.

I hope I'm as lucky as you are with my 2012 Optimax (75 hp). The only repair that the motor needed is when I ran the skeg aground and had to replace my lower unit, prop and trim motor. The motor was still under warranty, so the repair shop said since the insurance company was paying for it , to do everything properly. Have done regular maintenance and winterization to it and use "Don's Cocktail" and it runs great.

I was the third owner on the same year/HP model but saltwater version. That motor was bulletproof. owned it for 7 years and never had to do a thing to it other than year end maintenance. Guy i sold it to loves it too. I'd buy it back in a heartbeat.
