Default Set Up

For the walleye angler the PS-30 transducer is a must

I’m not sure about the panoptix but I just picked up a Garmin uhd 93sv for $599 from scheels, almost half off. I’m hoping to add the panoptix at a later date when the prices come down.

Gary is correct, the PS30 is the best transducer for vertical fishing and trolling.
You may also consider the PS22 which gives you both forward and down live sonar, it's also a bit less expensive than the PS30.

I run both, the PS30 and the PS22 and in my opinion the PS22 is a great tool for searching walleye with a comfortable range of 120 feet forward, best if used on a separate transducer pole.
The downfall of both of those transducers is there ability to see fish close to the bottom, PS30 being a bit better when the cone angle is reduced.

The PS22 can also be used for vertical fishing but it has less power than the PS30, 50 wats vs 150 wats for the PS30, the lures a easier to follow with the PS30.
Any of those transducers coupled with a GPSMAP unit will make a great system.

Good luck
