Default which bird units?

OK, if you had $1800, which two Humminbird units would install in your boat, one on the dash and one at the bow?

The biggest SI unit I could afford within the budget allowance and a second quick-attach mount for the front of the boat.

I'd rather have a big screen I can see everything with and deal with the pain of occasionally swapping it than to have to small units and wish I had more...

If you want Side Imaging, which you should, I don't recommend going smaller than the 898c HD SI. That unit will go at the console. The bow unit can be something like the 788ci HD. Ethernet network them together and away you go.

I'd go with a 998 and then save up for the 2nd unit.

I would bust out another $1000. If you only have $1800 to spend. I would get the 998c SI HD save my pennies for a 788c HD or preferably an 858c HD for the bow. As a guy who ran a 997c SI and now runs an 898c SI in dad's boat. I can tell you there will be an 1198c SI in the new boat.

Don't want to get too crazy with electronics. I have a budget in mind and would like to stick with it. I understand more is better, but need to draw the line somewhere. Always easy to spend someone else's money.

I was planning on adding an Terrova I-pilot too. Before long I will have half the amount I paid for the boat new into gadgets.

Maybe I should just breakout the old green box?

Default Minimum

The minimum I would do is an 858 on the helm and a 788 on the bow. That should be pretty close to your number. Getting an i-piliot link is truly a game changer in my opinion...you cant fully appreciate until you go use it. I would beg and borrow to get one...but I think you need at least an 800 series on the helm...ideally I would suggest an 800 series on both but then you are over your budget. I have an 898 on the dash and am planning on adding an 858 on the bow. With the i-piliot link I have been fishing out of the back of the boat, and found that I love it! I let my guests sit up on the bow now...works great for me.
