Default Exceptional Cover Songs

Music threads seem to get a lot of attention here, so I thought I'd start a new one about cover songs. There are several cover songs that I think really stand out - I'm talking about songs that were very popular by the original artist and were widely identified and associated with only that artist, and were then remade as a cover by someone else who did an exceptional job making the song unique in their own way. Here are a few of my favorites:

Guns N' Roses cover of Bob Dylan's "Knockin' on Heaven's Door"
Metallica's cover of Bob Seger's "Turn the Page"
Seether's cover of George Michael's "Careless Whisper"
Bad Wolves cover of the Cranberries (Dolores O’Riordan's) "Zombie"
Marilyn Manson's cover of Eurythmics' "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)"
Johnny Cash's cover of NIN's "Hurt"
Adam Lambert's cover of Tears For Fears' "Mad World"

I'm sure I could come up with some more if I thought about it for a while. What are your favorites?

These guys do a lot of covers of non bluegrass music. This Pink Floyd cover may be their best.

2.) The Band/Levon Helm did a great cover of Atlantic City, better than the original IMO.

3.) The Grateful Dead did an amazing cover of Dear Mr. Fantasy
