Default Lund Tyee Gl hull

I have a Tyee GL 189 which I love but having the wife, 3 kids and the dog on the boat I'm thinking a 20ft might be a better fit. I only wish you could stretch the 189 two more feet lol as the layout is almost perfect. Anyone know the reason why the bigger tyee 208 gl has a different hull and narrower beam? It's a totally different boat in my opinion. The Smaller 189 has the same hull as the Pro V gl's which is awesome. Why would Lund make the Tyee 208 different. Frustrating as I don't want to move brands. Hope they fix this in the next couple years.

I think with a narrower beam it can get through the water easier with less pounding. If keeping a bigger beam they would have to go with a bigger deadrise like warrior did with their 21-21. This is just me speculating, I have no knowledge from Lund about this. T-mac is probably the guy you need to hear from about this.

Tyee 208 has the same hull as the Pro V 208. Just another way to use the same tooling for another boat variant.

The 208 Tyee Hull molds were designed only about a year before the new ProV GL Hulls were. The molds are in great shape and the boats perform well. (I had one.) I would certainly test run one before making a call on it.I think you'll find it as comfortable as I did.

Hey T Mac, have you any discussion of moving the Tyee GLs to the 202 and 219 hulls instead of the 208 hull?

Sorry, but I have not heard any rumors concerning that.

I have a 2006 1950 Tyee, aluminum hull. And, I have to say, for a pure fishing/pleasure boat, I absolutely love the layout. We have the upgraded captains chairs up front and the 225 Etec HO on the back, so it is everything I need or want in a boat. I have thought of making the transition to glass...but this boat has been paid for for over 10 years....hard to think about spending $60-70K for a new one I may not like as much.

Those of you that have gone from aluminum to glass, did you notice that much difference in the ride?

Thanks,

The Fisher-man
