Drotto theft?

I was looking at ditto boat latches and I saw that they sell a lock for them. Has anyone had one stolen? For the price of the lock I am going to get one, but really?

Drotto? I believe the lock is to lock the mechanism so someone doesn't walk past and trip the latch. In that case your boat lays in the parking lot when you pull away if you have a roller trailer.

The lock is made of pewter metal- all someone has to do is have a 3 lb hammer and bang on it and it's over with, it breaks off and access to the lock nut that holds the Drotto on to the pedestal is right there. It is all for looks.

Well thanks for letting the cat out of the bag. A huge percentage of the locks used by the general public are easily overcome with a 3 lb hammer.

I think it would be difficult to steal a drotto assembly if there is a boat on the trailer. The u-bolt, on the front of the boat, that the assembly latches to would interfere with removal, unless either the post is slid forward or the boat slid back.
