Default BDC reticles vs Turret for hunting

I hunted whitetail and predators all my life with the good old 3x9x40 leupold. Always been enough for my needs but after going on my first mule deer hunt, and definitely not my last, I would Like to extend my yardage. I am very comfortable at 300yds but would like to feel the same way about 500 or even 600. I have a range on the ranch so I shoot a lot. My question is which do you prefer for hunting situations at that range. Am looking to spend around 1k. I liked my friends vx5, just not sure how I feel about dialing in a pressure situation.
Thanks

Get ready for a ton of opinions, because opinions and styles is what this will come down to.

I came from the old school game of shooting. Remington 700, .308, and Weaver scope. Learned to keep a dope book for different conditions and ranges, dialing for elevation, holding for windage. It is still in a 3-ring binder in my box of collectibles.

Fast forward to today. I dial everything with the new scopes. I have the BDC reticle in milrads but will still dial. I blend and dial elevation and hold for windage.

My wife is new to shooting rifles, and she likes to hold for windage and elevation, but I have to give her the hold.

If you have time to dial, dial. If not, then go with BDC reticles.

It is whatever you are comfortable with.

There are a lot of good optics in your price range. I personally prefer a first focal plane rather than a 2nd focal plane scope. I am big Vortex fan for the value and quality. We could not destroy them in Asscraptistan and we intentionally tried. Arken is something I have recently tried and am really impressed as well.
