Default Ranger 1880ms

Any good reports on 2018 or 2019 with 150. I am not worried about top end speed. I like some of the features of the 1880 over the 1850. I do have 2012 1850 with 150 4 stroke Yamaha which has been great. I like the rod storage area of the 1880 and battery placement. I am curious why some doen like location of the deep cycle batteries. The ones on my 1850 are not easy to get at, especially at my age.

I also like to hear from owners of 2018 or 2019 who own 1850's and why you went with that boat over the 1880.

One final thought on the 200 on the 1880ms is the high price tag compared to any 150.

I cut the ends off of the rod tubes in the rod locker. Had to take out the bow locator to get to them. Now I can get 2 rods up to 8'6" and several 8' in there.

I choose the 1850 for the rod locker.... wife didnít want step. But I found out there is a little more storage with the 1850. The factory puts the battery charger on starboard storage in deck, and takes up a huge amount of space. the 1850 puts it in front of batteries inside front deck.

Are there any downsides to cutting ends off tubes in the center rod locker? Iíll check the WOT RPMs next time Iím out.

I also bought the sea sucker 3 rod pro vertical rod holder and mounted in front of rear livewell. Iím happy with that (no holes) and might buy another. It holds the rods nicely but if you put a net on one of the side 2 tubes it isnít strong enough in heavy chop, but for just rods seems as sturdy as Iíd need it.

My battery charger was in bad location in port side bow storage area, he moved it end near passenger in the storage area. My wife is like yours, she dislikes the step in the 1880. Any I agree their is more storage in the 1850. Upfront in bow, I kept porta pot, life jacket or two and other smaller items.
