My opinion on the noise being louder in one direction then the other is prop tuque just like torque on the cable pully outboards.

Maybe once the plastic gears are worn in in that direction the noise may continue.

Hey Pat, The service manager has informed me the grinding noise i've been hearing is coming from the motor, MK took care of it under warranty. The original motor lasted one year we shall see how long the new motor lasts, best of luck!

It also appears that when I'm spot-locked and motor rotates and wraps the cord too tight before it automatically unwinds, it winds way tighter one direction than the other (hope that makes sense!). Anyway, any others experience anything similar? If so is there a fix?

You probably need to reset the keel offset orientation.

Thanks Mag for the follow-up. Guess I'm going to find out if mine gets worse next season. Unfortunately I'm past warranty.

Thanks plnwtf for the suggestion, never try thought about the keel offset orientation maybe needing to reset.
