Default Wolf Hunt

I am headed to Northern Ontario on Jan 5, 2018 for a Wolf Hunt/Ice fishing trip. I have hunted the area before on a Archery Fall Bear hunt in 2015 with the same hunting buddy. I have visited in length with the outfitter about the hunt and have a pretty good idea of what takes place.

I am interested to hear from anyone who has experience with Wolf hunting or who has hunted in Northern Ontario that time of year.

Not looking for preferences on guns, calibers, or scopes. But any pointers, precautions, or tips would be appreciated.

Thanks.

The trip is over and the results are in. The results are.......it was the funnest, most mentally challenging, rewarding, scenic, beautiful, breathtaking, hunt I have been on. It was a scheduled 7day hunt. We had planned to to spend the day ice fishing on Wednesday no matter what our results of the hunt were. My buddy shot his wolf on Tuesday, I had not. I told my guide on Wednesday while we were fishing, that I had three words for him. They were " I'm coming back!" (No matter what the results were) I filled my tag at 8:42 am on Thursday. Oddly enough, that was the EXACT same time I filled my Bear tag. The Bear tho, was in the p.m.
We went through Five Lakes Lodge on Gullrock near Red Lake Ontario. We had also used them on a Archery Bear hunt in August of 2015. I filled my tag on the first day. My buddy was at full.draw twice but chose to hold off.
The camp owner was our guide on both hunts. Good luck finding a guide more knowledgeable of the area and that works as hard as he does. Or one that has better facilities and equipment. His success rates are high and after you go there, you will see why.
Feel free to PM with any questions as I will be more than happy to answer questions and re-live the hunt again. Hahaha.
The cold isn't as bad as you might think and WHAT A BEAUTIFUL TIME OF YEAR TO BE IN NORTHERN ONTARIO.

I'm a man of my word!
I will be there the last week in January, 2020.
Wolf Hunting for me and ice fishing for 2 buddies from our Spring fishing trip.
Fully expecting the same results as the outfitter is second to none.
At the risk of sounding to greedy, this time I'm hoping for a black male with silver tips!

Time is close, I'm getting excited!

Okay, a wolf hunt is pretty serious, you're going full hardcore mode. I suppose I may as well suggest you look into buying a hunting mask. If youíre going on a hunting trip and you have little time to plan ahead, you certainly must be equipped with the best gear so you donít have to face unfortunate mishappenings on the way. From what I've seen online I think https://under-the-open-sky.com/best-hunting-masks/ is the best so far, and it has some really good short reads. If youíre not really in the mood to do the proper research, you can rely on their buying guide, regarding hunting gear.
