Surge brakes on a nitro zv21
Do you have to put the safety pin in the bypass to back up every time?

Most newer trailers have a solenoid that works off the reverse lights to disable trailer brakes when backing up. What style wiring hook up is on your trailer? Flat 4 won’t have it. Flat 5 or RV style probably does.

Try backing it up an incline with the pin out. If the brakes engage you need to use the pin, if they don't you have a bypass solenoid.

Would be very surprised with a 5 pin that you don't have a reverse solenoid. Try it and see.

I have a 2019 tundra and need the pin every time I back up my 2018 Skeeter on any kind of an incline.

When I bought my Ranger the prior owner said he also had to use the pin. Turned out his 5 prong was plugged into a 4 adaptor which defeated the purpose. I’m really surprised that a new boat wouldn’t have it. Even the “budget” brands seem to incorporate that feature over the last decade (or more). |

Sometimes you need to add a fuse in the box to energize the reverse light wire. With the emergency brake on. Truck in reverse. Try shutting the truck off. That way you should be able to safely test if that wire is hot on your truck. When the reverse lights are on. But truck shut off.
