Canvas army tent - strong musty smell

My wife and I quit tent camping too early in our mid 20's. Good news I kept the gear and my son at 7 years old and I started using it again last summer on the Mississippi river. Stayed at Merrick State Park, same site I camped at as a kid with my dad. We made great memories the few days we had and I plan on going at least once again this year and hopefully twice. Not a canvas tent but apparently the tent I bought when I was 18 is better built than most as we used the heck out of it back then and it is still like new now!
