Wow, pretty proud of a short piece of cable aren't they. you'd think this would be a 20 dollar item after you spent thousands to have the HDS and the XI5.

Hiwayman, I couldn't agree more. It must be that extra year of R&D they put in to designing that cable since they were due out this past Jan/Feb.

I just went and looked to see what they cost since I ordered my new boat with an xi5. $240. They ought to feel ashamed of themselves. 240 for a 6" adaptor. Come on...........:::

Are you saying that a new XI5 needs this cable "Pinpoint/ MotorGuide GPS gateway kit" to hook up to the Lowrance head units? ****, just had to get the quick release mount, now this?

Anything else I need to know?

Ichthyguy - you will need the Gateway kit to network your MotorGuide Xi5 to your Lowrance HDS unit. There is a link below with some good information.

From the install pdf

Note: A NMEA 2000 Network is required for connectivity.
If your vessel does not have this network, a NMEA starter kit is required.
(MotorGuide #8M0092086 or equivalent.)

Looks like you need $300-$400 to set up the system if you do not have a nmea 2000 network already installed on the boat.

Yikes
I thought $35.00 for a HB Ethernet cable was high.

Maybe it is made with gold, platinum and titanium and works during a nuclear EMP. LOL

Will my hds7 touch power the nema back bone(starter kit) or do I need to use the power node, with three T connectors?
