Ranger trailer brake maintenance
I am in the middle of going through my trailer brakes. I have a 2013 621 with brakes on both axles. I looks like the trailer has UFP DB-35 disc brake calipers. From what I find online it looks like a better deal to simple buy new caliper assemblies with the pad rather than try to save $50 a wheel and struggle to rebuild the originals. Have others found the same thing? Has anyone else used standard UFP DB-35 calipers or does Ranger have something special other than their own part number?

Muskeye,
I would always replace a caliper than attempt to rebuild it. Especially in a boat trailer, if there has been a caliper problem and has gotten wet inside, there is a very good chance that there is rust inside the caliper. If there is rust in the caliper, it means that there will be depressions in the caliper, even if you ream the caliper free of rust. Best wishes. |

Ranger Trailer Brake Maintenance
I found that Ranger uses a complete UFP brake system including the suspension arms. I decided at the end of the day to order complete caliper assemblies and replace the whole thing. It is not worth my time and effort to rebuild these for the same price difference. Just another example of our disposable world.
