Same here. Our county landfill will give you a weight for free if you don't want the official ticket. not sure what the charge is for the ticket if you want it.

Depending on your location a railroad Fexi Flo site will have a scale.......go there with a cup of coffee in hand and tell the scale operator you use to work on the RR....he will allow you all the time you want to weigh your truck/boat or separately as you wish. There will be no charge unless you count the cup of coffee you gifted him.

I weighed my trailer at the county dump. It cost $5. I was registering the trailer as home made so the DMV needed a weight on it.

I take it that if you tell someone that you worked for the rail road, you really worked for the rail road didn't you?

For myself, I actually worked summers and winter vacation for the rail road. That income paid for my way through college. Good job.

Take care

Good morning Roger, yes I did 30 years on the RR as a wrecker.....started on the Penn Central that became Conrail that became CSXT......I inspected inboard and outbound trains......repaired freight cars, re-railed anything that fell off the tracks via pulling them back on or lifting them back on the tracks and also spent 3 years as a Safety Director.

Huntindave........RR Workers stick together and go out of their way for each other. It's a bond you will never know.

The local metal scrap yard lets me use their scale for free. It has a big digital readout that drivers can see from their vehicle.
