Default Rail Rod holders

I was wondering those of you who run rail rod holders do they want to come loose a lot ? Are you happy with them ? I'm getting a new boat and it has rails, I had tracks on my last boat. I'm just debating on having the dealer pull the rails and put tracks on. Just a tough decision. I just run inline boards.

I run the down east salty rail mounts and love them. I also fish mostly for musky so I need the stronger rod holders. I haven't had any issues with them but once in a while I will tighten them up. I don't tighten them down all the way anyway so I can adjust how far a rod tips in the water. I just keep them snug so they don't move by themselves. If you cranked them right down they would probably be fine, I would assume. I have had the cabelas rail mount rod holders in the past and they were pretty good. They never needed to be tightened. I just got rid of them because I wanted an all metal rod holder for the strength.

I've used ram with rail mounts on my last couple of boats with absolutely no issues. They come with a riser which raises them up.

Cisco make a few different types that are probably the best you can get.

Default Rod holders

Personally I like it if they spin tightly on the rails. That way say I'm trolling without boards I have them straight out. Put on a board and spin them up to accommodate for the board instead of readjusting the rod holder. Faster and they don't move once adjusted. Also helps to change the angle of the back rods if needed. Just adds more adjustment variables.

I use RAM Mounts on my rails. I did cut up an old mtb tube and used it as a spacer on my mount, it really cinched things up nice I could still twist them if I wanted but I had to put effort in to do so.

I just got my Folbe Jr's in the mail and they look like the way to go. I have used the reg. Folbes but find they are a bit big and sloppy. Check em out.
