Default New Crankbait Idea

As of late, I've been researching information on trolling crankbaits with planer boards to help create more spread while trolling the shallows. But then I thought, maybe someone makes a crankbait that will run to the side??

I reached out to Northland Tackle and to Rapala, but haven't had any response yet.

Does anyone know if any manufactures make a crankbait that will run out to the side of the boat?

Thanks

Try bending a crankbait's metal loop right or left in the front. A tool is even sold to correct a bait running to the side.

Almost every Berkley flicker shad runs sideways out of the package! Dipsy divers can be a great tool for this. More of a trout/salmon technique but the small dipsies work great for eyes! Especially if you are looking for depth with your spread. If running shallows way out to the side, nothing beats a planner board.

Yeah, I thought about bending they eye of an existing crankbait, but I was hoping to find something more precise.

Looks like I'll have to go the planer board route.

I just thought if someone manufactured a crankbait that would run out to the side, it could make trolling easier.

Thanks for the replies

If it trolled out to the side then it wouldn't run right, use boards.

I think it's better to use planer boards to get the spread, and then focus on getting your cranks to the right depth. If they run sideways on their own, my guess is that they would be running too shallow.
