Default ranger 1860angler repower worth it?

At the moment i am running a Yamaha F150. Great little motor and would probably last 10 more years. I would like to get a little more power out of my boat since it is rated for a 175hp. Would upgrading to a 175 SHO even help my top end and hole shot? atm i am getting 46-47mph with 2 people. Hole shot is really sluggish. My 150 is running a 21p yamaha prop and already bolted on the highest hole. Or would a Jack plate be a cheaper and better investment? Thanks..

Seems like your numbers are really good to me but i do understand always wanting a little more. I'd play around with a 4 blade stainless for better holeshot but that's not really going to help with the top end. That Yamaha is a great powerplant, going with a 175 sho might gain you a couple mph but is it worth it???? Guess that's up to you. I'd just leave it and spend that money elsewhere- brushless trolling motor, highest level 12 or 16 inch graphs, talons, kicker etc.

You didn’t mention your rpms but I’d guess you are over propped. 19 and the holeshot will improve greatly. Bet you lose hardly any speed also

I agree, if not hitting 6000rpm that is too much prop. I have a Croxton blueprinted 17pitch Reliance on my 175 SHO and it jumps out of the hole as well as my two-stroke did.

im really anal when it comes to min/maxing boats. It sounds like im over propped anyways. I do really need a new graph. My old hds 9 only has down imaging. Side scan doesnt work xD. I really wish i could find a hummingbird 9 helix g4n with side...but not happening. Ive been using my garmin 9 for side but i hate it and miss hummingbirds side image.

I have a 1850 reata with 150 4 stroke. I've been toying with a 175 as well. Every dealer says 2 to 4 mph at the most.

Merc Pro xs 175 is the choice of many. 6 cup. Supposed to have excellent results.

I have a 19 pitch tempst plus on my 150. Hole shot is ok. And I see mid to maybe 48.

Drop your prop to a 17 pitch.
You will likely lose 2-4 mph, but you will really get a wonderful hole shot.

Best wishes
