It seems like yesterday
Finally have some decent weather in our area so pulled the boat out of storage.
The starting battery was dead so had to jump to the one battery that had just a bit of juice in it to lift the motor. After getting the rig home, pulled all 3-group 31 batteries out for a replacement. I was not surprised, since I had nursed the batteries through the tail end of last season. I buy my batteries at the same Batteries plus store. When I brought the 3 batteries in and purchased the new batteries, I asked the manager how long ago, it was that I had purchased these 3 three batteries. Although, it only seemed like yesterday; it was actually 9 years ago this month that I had purchased the batteries. So, the service life out of these batteries was just fine. I expect similar life out of the three new batteries. Time to get it into the water again. Be safe |

I would trust an eight year old battery as far as I could throw it.......(I can't throw a battery very far)....

Those are excellent East Penn made Batteries. My AGM East Penn trolling battery (Farm and Fleet house brand ) lasted 11 seasons. Though still had some some life in it, replaced last year because I was doing some more serious traveling, would not have trusted to last through those vacation trips. But otherwise was waiting till it died, but never did. As far as trusting one that old, the post that said they would not, is certainly right for a starting battery. I replace my starting battery about every 5 years regardless of condition. |

Lucky to get much life out of them at all just throwing them into storage with no provision to keep them from going dead. Makes no sense at all, especially coming from someone who fancies himself a master of common sense.

Batteries
I replaced my batteries this year. Kind of thought I was pushing it. My starter batter was an Interstate 24 that came with my boat in 2010. The trolling batter was a 2012. I carry jumper cables in my boat & have an onboard charger to maintain my batteries.
