Default Ugly Boats

We need to settle down. Boats are getting gaudy...... ugly. Give me an 18' Alaskan or, better yet a Kingfisher, thick gauge. Tiller please. Fiberglass sucks.
Soon we will have a 1 hour red carpet TV show on prettiest boat hosted by the equally obnoxious Kardashians..
Go into a boat showroom today and its like a jewelry store..!????

Who is gonna pay $80,000.00 for a boat that doesn’t sparkle & have a 350 Hp motor & 15 hp kicker? Why you would be a fool to do that.

Different strokes for different folks. I am 53 and will be quite happy to never ride in another aluminum boat. YMMV

Mixed,
In contrast to your comment, I will never own an aluminum boat.

Aluminum boats are great boats, just not for me.

But, I would never buy a boat - no matter the material that has sparkle in the finish.

A glass boat that has a white finish that never fades in the summer sun works very well for me. Hence the use of white glass boats in the tropical areas of the world. No darker colored pigment to fade and that works for me.

No need for carpet in the boat either.

I don't see $50,000, $80,000, $150,000 automobiles or trucks driving down the road with sparkle in their finish either.

But, a well designed glass hull that deflects waves and has as smooth a ride as is possible in the hull of a given length that is possible with glass works fine with me.

But, as the saying goes, "What ever stirs a person't heart is the right choice for that person."

Take care

I'm on my third Lund boat. My first one, a 1972 S-14 was red with a small oval on the aft freeboard that said "Lund". Go to the Lund site now to the build your boat option and you can choose the option to spend from $368 to over $700 to have raised chrome graphics that says Lund in very large letters. Talk about gaudy. To each their own.

Mark, not only that but if you are not catching fish at least you are looking good!

I like the newer boat designs. The interiors are absolutely amazing on some of them. I really like the design your own hull features, allowing you to mix up colors here and there on the boat. The one thing that bothers me though are the wheels on some of the newer models' trailers. Allot of the wheels look like they should be on some wannabe gangbangers car cruising the hood, not on a boat.

Default Ugly boats

I enjoy fishing from my Ranger 1850 but feel that guys in 14 to 16 ft aluminum boats are much better fisherman than I am. I am 76 and not half as good as most of them catching fish. I enjoy talking to them, reading their post and trying to learn each and everyday.

Pretty soon glitter boats will have a compartment for these "fishing shoes".
