It will be sitting there listed at $12500 for yrs to come. No one that knows boats will pay that, a dealer won't give u half of that, it comes down to how bad the person wants to get rid of it. And it's not selling for even close to $12500. Doesn't matter how much new boats are

What people are asking, and what they actually sell for are two different things. Although a boat and trailer could be mint condition, you are still talking about a 25 y/o 2 stroke motor. If that baby pops, you are looking at probably a $5000 used repower, or 12K plus for a new motor. Too much risk for me to invest 10K in a 25 y/o boat.

I have owned a Skeeter S-1850 with Mercs for 15 years.

I watch some come up for sale around Minnesota, ND, SD and WI. Some that are beat and neglected maybe $5000 max. I've seen some well taken care of boats sell for over $10K.

More info would be needed to give a price opinion.

Every year new boats continue to rise in cost and these older boats seem to retain value. I wouldn't mind buying a newer boat, but I can't justify it. I'd rather own multiple boats.

The electronics on the boat need consideration in total cost, Ulterra's are not cheap..

Don't expect this boat to ride like a newer model boat. This 1850 is a narrow hull, it cuts waves well, dry ride and loves to just go fast.

Yes, now the OP knows exactly how much he shouldn't spend on a 25yr old boat.

Okay bud you win, despite several ads stating the price and prior owners stating what they seen them sell for you know the true value, your'e the man.

It's not about winning or losing, it's about paying someone something for what it's actually worth. With the price of new or used boats these days, when will this price gauging stop? Very few people can have a nice house and $130000 tied up in a new truck and a new boat. Are they actually worth that? Not in my mind, and that's why most will never buy new.

I agree with you 100% here. The price escalation on new boats and multispecies boats in particular is outrageous . That's why I'm still fishing out of a 1987 myself. I would love to own a new boat, almost pulled the trigger 2 years ago but life threw a bump in the road. Thank God i didn't sign paperwork on it as i would have bought and lost my first new boat.

So with the Skeeter I can't agree with a 12k price tag either , I personally don't think it's worth it but rather I was giving the OP what to expect to see on the market, which i think is what he was looking for. Its getting to where the average working man is priced out of range of these boats. That's why they are giving 20 yr loans on them, now that's crazy, never thought I'd see that. As you said- where does it end.

RMB,
It really doesn't matter what anyone else thinks what the value of the rig is.

There is only one thing that is important.

What is one person willing to pay for a rig, that the seller of the rig is willing to accept.

That is the free market system. The market tells the buyers and sellers the value of the boat when an agreement is reached on the value of the rig.

It is always too little for some, but it is always too much for others.

There in only one price for the perfect Goldilocks deal that is just right for everyone involved in the transaction.
