Default Fishing Missouri River, SD

Anybody headed out to fish the river in SD? I'm headed out in a few weekends for the first time. What are some good tactics to try?

Jig/Minnow/Plastics I'm assuming are a good place to start.

What part of the river you headed to? from what I hear a jig and minnow are working well right now, I haven't made it out yet but hopefully this weekend. it helps living 17 miles away from the river

Jig/Minnow or FuzzEGrub and minnow is hard to beat. I like to find places to throw jerk baits in the shallows as well. Finding water that is a degree or few degrees warmer than every place else can make a huge difference as well. I have had luck throwing big swimbaits this time of year, but not done real well throwing small plastics this time of year. All depends on water temperature. I am a big slab/blade bait guy as well, and always start with those to get the active biters from reactionary strikes.

I fish the north dakota section from bismarck to the state line jigs and minnow work the best for me early spring.

Chamberlin area is where we'll be starting out.

Thanks. I imagine that's what we'll be doing mostly. I wouldn't mind trying to get a few to nibble on a stick bait or snap jigging. Might be too early for snap jiggin though?
