Default 2015 E-tec 30 HP

I winterized my E-tec today and went by the manual. Everything seemed to work as suggested but the motor did not shut off as supposed to do.

As advised I did it again with the same result. The engine did not shut off automatically.

anybody have any ideas ?

Default winterize

Most of the time if the motor does not stop automatically, the throttle was probably not advanced far enough before starting the motor. Follow the book sequence exactly but open the throttle fully instead of 1/2-way.

Default Winterizing E-tec

Thanks for the reply, hopefully I can get some cooperation from the weather. I think it was oiling but just did not shut off. From my experience with this motor I am impressed with its performance. Thanks again for your response.

Were all of the control box lights (take off the cowl, they are right on top) blinking in unison while it was winterizing during the final step? They should be. Enough oil in the tank?

Default Winterizing E-tec

I pulled boat out of garage today and took the advice of (seahorse and cast and blast) making sure the Lever was raised up before I started the engine and having the cover off the motor to see the lights. Those two suggestios serviced the engine and it shut off automatically.

Thanks guys for your HELP.

You just gotta love this winterization feature from E-TEC.

I bought this back in May, I have to say I am very sorry these motors are discontinued. It runs smooth and a joy to operate. If I wanted to go fishing tomorrow all I have to do is go fish and winterize it again. I think it just came along too late.

There may be sad stories out there but that is like everything, there is good and bad products, just like people.

I can't agree more..........although there are many E-TEC haters out there (and they never owned one) they are one sweet outboard motor. Power, smooth, quiet and VERY fuel efficient not to mention a LOT less maintenance over any 4 stroker out there. The easy winterization is just icing on the cake.

Since the parent company BRP has not sold the E-TEC name and is a very strong world wide company it makes one wonder if BRP is not completely done with the E-TEC brand. I'm only guessing but maybe they will find a buyer or take the manufacturing overseas. Only time will tell but I'm sure glad I got mine when I did.
