Default Scarey !!!!!!!!!

I just got back from looking at a trailer listed on Craigs List.
The owner said he just used it to tow an 18' boat from NE Pa. to Baltimore Md.
It is a load rite trailer, and 3 of the spring hangers are just about rusted off. The other one IS rusted completely off! The bolt is still in the spring, but not through the hanger. Also the crosspieces where the rollers attach were rusted through at spots.
YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! I'm sure that guy was doing 70+ while traveling to Md. I would almost be afraid to just tow just the trailer home!
After seeing that, I'm wondering if trailers shouldn't have to be inspected every year.
Just makes you wonder!

Did the guy even know he had a piece of crap for sale. I'm always surprised how many fishing friends I have that don't pay any attention to the trailer and don't know anything about them.....just hook on and go.

As a former CDL holder it's always baffled me that trailers and especially campers don't need yearly inspections.

Do cars need yearly inspections? Why should trailers. I agree that dangerous trailers should be taken off the road but where do we draw the line.

It always baffled me that I needed a non commercial class B to drive fire engines, but my inlaws RV is longer than the engine, towing another vehicle, and he just needs a regular old DL to drive it.

YES! Cars need yearly inspections here in Pa. At one time it was every 6 mo.
I know some states don't need inspections at all. I would bet there's quite a few cars being driven in those states that shouldn't be on the road at all.
BUT: I did know of a few peel and stick stations! I always managed to get my car inspected with headers on it! (modified exhaust) At that time it was illegal to have them on.

For the guys that aren't familiar with peel and stick: Drive in, guy removes old sticker and slaps new one on. Pay, and drive out. He may ask if the headlights work. That's it, good for another yr.! I really don't know anyone that does that anymore.

Its determined by the weight of the vehicle. If I remember correctly, it changes at 26,000 lbs.

It must depend on the state. Here in New York, cars and trailers have to be inspected yearly.
