Tracker has been so bad for so long, that it is going to take some really good boats and really good service for a really long time, to get most of us who can't stand that brand of boat, to believe they're worth much at all. Do I think it's a good buy for you? I have no idea...
I wonder what a dealer like MW Marine says to their customers when they ask about the two boats (they sell Ranger and recently picked up Tracker boats too). |

What exactly is so bad about Nitro boats? I have a Nitro bass boat and I'll be the 1st to admit things like the apohlstery, storage lids, dash, etc.. are not top notch quality but I've had zero problems with the boat and I'll tell you I beat the piss out of it. Would I love to have a Ranger, yes of course I would but simply put I cant afford one. |

If you can't afford a Ranger then don't worry about not being in one. It's going to come down to what's the best boat for you in your situation. It's been said before, the best boat out there is the best one for you. Don't worry what others have, but if resale is a concern you will probably have to rethink your options.
Tracker and it's other boat lines have a bad reputation of selling cheap boats, underpowered with entry level electronics. They are a entry level boat and there is a place for them in the market but they are far from being the best boat on the water. The best price maybe, but you get what you pay for. Do some research on what your boat is worth and look at others brands similar boats and use that info to help make up your mind.

Nitro
To be honest with you this is probably the last place to get good info on Nitro boats as they are mostly bass and traditional fish and ski boats. Most people on here are walleye hull orientated. However, a few quick searches on this forum will show person after person loosing sleep and dealing with incredible amounts of frustration in having to deal with Trackers poor quality and even worse customer service. There are multiple case of customers having to bring the boat back to the factory multiple times. Not the dealer, mind you, but the factory.
I found it very interesting when Tracker Marine debuted the new 290 Sport as a Nitro and not a Tracker as it was clearly modeled after a walleye hull. I live in Green Bay and with the tournament in town this past weekend there were pro boats running around all over the place. I saw two boats that were fully wrapped with trucks the match. The boats were very obviously Tracker Tundras but the wraps made no mention of Tracker and said Nitro. Maybe Tracker Marine is abandoning the Tracker name on their new boats and using Nitro as it will seem new to the uninformed and has no bad reputation. Just a thought. SP |

Resale will be a big factor. Being able to sell the boat and taking a big hit. One thing many forget when pricing a Ranger is all of the things that come standard on this boat compared to having to pay extra on many others. One of the best trailers on the market, standard, etc. Compare apples to apples on the Nitro and add in all of the things that are missing and the price won't be as far apart as you think.
For all that don't think they can afford a Ranger, look at some that are a year or two old. Many on this site. Go price a new Lund too if you think Rangers are expensive. They are all in the same ball park.

The reason you saw Tundras wrapped with Nitro is becasue Nitro is coming out with a glass walleye tourney boat on the 290 sport hull that all their pros will be using next year and will be for sale. I've been told the inside will be modeled after......... a Ranger Fisherman. |

The biggest for of flattery is imitation. That statement above should tell you why things cost what they do, and why one is better than the other.

Right but the Nitro version will Cost 35,000 out the door with a 225 optimax mounted on the back and the Ranger is going to run you 55,000. If I spent 55,000 on a fishing boat I'd be kicked out of the house. If I spent 35,000 on one I'd probably just have to sleep on the couch for a few weeks. |

That's my point. The new boat will probably be a Nitro, not a Tracker. They seem to be abandoning the name in their "High End" boats. Also, there is absolutely no way that the pending "comparable" Nitro with a 225 on the back will be $35,000. NO WAY. Right now $35K gets you a nicely equiped 18 foot glass boat with a 150-175 on the back. Ranger, Skeeter, etc. all in that ball park. How is Tracker going to add more length, more HP, better electronics, tandem axle trailer, bigger bow mount, rails for rod holders and a kicker for $20K less? Comparably equiped the prices are in the ball park. I have been boat shopping for a long time. Every now and then I get tricked by a Tracker ad. After I up the HP, bow mount, electronics, etc., etc., etc. the price always starts with the same number the comparable Ranger does. Funny how that works, eh? |

Lol just looked at trackers web site for the 209. You have to pay $70 bucks for a Automatic bilge pump with a 225 opti its $36450 striped nothing on it. Sorry but when u add tax and the extras u have to have like a auto bilge it really starts adding up.
