Default Finally Minn Kota gets it right

Had my 2017 Terrova out for the first time today. Its quite, Spot lock worked amazing. Cord did wrap itself around the head twice but no big deal. The LINK worked really well but the remote i found really heavy and it ended up laying on the seat, the micro remote will be needed. The head does stick up higher then my old terrova by quite a bit so the motor isnt as far in the water but no issues today.

Over all im happy with it and very happy i got rid of my old terrova.

Darren, what was the wind speed you had to hold the spot lock with? I have the older unit and thinking about upgrading. Thanks!

Wind was only about 12 mph but with my old Terova it would have been all over the place. Wind died down to 8 mph and i was trolling doing about 1.8. When i past a spot i hit spot lock, by the time i got my rig reeled in and picked up my other rod i was locked on the spot, my old terrova would over shoot the spot by 10 feet then have to go ahead the over shoot it by 5 feet ect ect.

Good to hear. Does the lift-assist feature they added seem to make any difference when lifting the motor out of the water?

Yes it does, its about 1/3-1/2 of the effort of the old terrova I also have a ram stabiliser on it so just grab the ram ball to lift it, its works like a handle. And the lift assist can come off its just bolted on so if it ever breaks its easily replaceable in your garage.

I installed the new Terrova on a buddies pontoon boat and went out with him on the maiden voyage. I have a five year old 80# Terrova on my Pro Guide, installed the 36V on his pontoon and I was amazed at how quiet it worked and the spot lock was much better than my older model. A 21' pontoon, a fair breeze, we hit anchor along side a navigation bouy and it didn't move more than 3 feet. Now I am having issues with my old Terrova (steering box) and ? do I upgrade or repair. Problem is I want to add a kicker and only so many dollars

From what I gather, reading this thread, there is no upgrade available for an older Terrova. Would be nice if you could just change the head assembly out as an upgrade.

I have a new one as well, was out yesterday in a fair wind of about 15km/hr with gust a higher. I had a V2 without spotlock and this feature is really cool.

I always had to fish from the main part of the boat as I only had one graph but I upgraded my console graph and moved my small one to the bow.

Only thing I am questioning is the jump 5 feet feature, on my remote the side to side buttons work, but the up and down don't appear to.

Once Walleye opens and we start fishing with jigs on humps it will be awesome.
