Default Help

My husband and I are trying to get a fair deal on a boat. We have found a 1987 21 foot Pro Line. The electronics are included and in great shape. A lot of upgraded features. Seems well taken care of...motor is a 2006 Evinrude ETEC with 160 hours on it.... trailer included. They’re asking 15K does any of this sound right? We are novices... not to boating, but to buying a boat. Thanks everybody!

Way too expensive in normal times. But this isn’t normal times. Covid has made the boat market crazy. I bet it sells at that price.

that sounds high, but we just sold a very lightly used 95 boat with a 150 Johnson Fast strike(140 hours) in great shape for prob 30%+ over what we would have prob gotten a few years ago...it was on FB market place for 10 days. its crazy. After this summer , there could be some decent bargains out there.

I would run from the E-Tec. Evinrude will be no support for that motor and it's history is horrible. They were great until they started having problems and then no way to get going. Now that they have quit building marine engines parts will not be avail after a while.
Have a great day.

15K is top dollar, and someone may pay that price, but you absolutely need to have a survey done on the hull and motor. There is wood in the stringers and wood in the transom of that boat. If there is any rot, it will cost you a fortune to fix. $300 to $500 for a survey might save you a 15K mistake!

I want to thank all responses to my questions. My husband and I are extremely grateful for each response. Together they armed us with the information we needed. God is good. We just couldn’t get peace about this boat. I really have know idea how I stumbled onto this platform but He does.
Steve and I are so excited about being on the water again so I will be back with more questions if that’s ok.
Have a blessed day.
