Default Lowrance HDS LSS-1 StructureScan question

I'm adding a LSS-1 StructureScan module to my HDS 7 & HDS 8 units. I've never had the LSS-1 before. I think running an ethernet cable from the LSS-1 to each of the HDS units means 1 Skimmer transducer can be used by either unit. Also having a map chip in 1 of the units means the other unit can use the map chip. At least I hope so. The manuals don't really say that expressly that I can see. Thanks for any responses.

Are they Gen-1 or Gen-2 units? Gen-1 will NOT share charts, Gen-2 units will. Yes, you can share one (1) 2D transducer regardless of generation.

Thanks for your response. They are Gen 1 units. As long as they share the transducer I can live with it. The map chip I can move as need be.
