Seeing shallow stuff like scattered weedbeds and transition lines seems pretty cool. If the video was somewhat realistic anyway.

Here's a comparison of my assortment of maps for Lowrance. I titled the screenshots, and blanked out clues to the location (of course!)

The Lakemaster was a phone pic of the screen of my old LMS-520c. It was the last LakeMaster chip available for Lowrance. I watched them do the survey of this lake, the year before this chip came out.

In these examples, the C-Map is very close to the old LakeMaster. The Navionics is different...but, note the small hump below and to the right of the cursor center. That's one we found years ago, and always see fish on (never catch any, though). Navionics has it, and LakeMaster and C-Map don't. I have not updated the Navionics to also have the "social" edits, so that may bring it closer to the other maps.

C-Map is littered with those "obstruction" magenta dot circles. No idea why they are there, as it also has asterisks marking rocks. This is the lake that also has stange straight lines running right through the middle of it labled "road" and "river".

In a few weeks I'll be there. Will be interesting to see what happens when I use the live mapping on that area.

Good pics. That little bump a above that rock “might” be that little hump. Fact is though the Navionics is horrible. Even the depth markers seem too far apart, not a big deal because your sonar is always running, but still doesn’t look as good. That may be a place where that picture overlay would enhance a little

I bounced around all three for a couple of other lakes, and the C-Map the units come with seem to replicate LakeMaster very well! I'd say that you'd be getting a very close match, without having to spend the $ for a chip.
It does have some of its own peculiarities, like the roads and rivers in the middle of at least one lake....

I downloaded the social updates to the Navionics. No change to the area I shared in the pics above. Very likely no one drove around there, and then uploaded.

Thanks GBS, I, and I’m sure many others, learned a lot from all your help. I still look at the Helix and wonder if I’m making the right choice?.?.???
