.035 unless you are using big blades with lots of drag, then 040 or even 052

Kevin,

Are you putting blades on your bottom bouncers? or are you referring to dragging blades behind a bottom bouncer?

I'm sure he is referring to dragging big blades behind.

Depends on the mold your using. The Do-it mold for 2oz to 3oz B.B. Calls for .41 wire.
The 1/8 to 5/8 mold calls for .35 wire. The 1/2 to 2oz mold also calls for .35 wire.
I have some custom molds for heavier B.B. That need .45 wire.
Check your mold it should be stamped on the inside.

This makes more sense than the size of a blade determining wire size.

I've opened up the molds to accept .063 wire - I like the stiffer wire a lot.

I like the thin wire because it will flex and give when hitting obstructions, giving the rig more action. With rigs with lots of drag, it will bend the wire back and ruin the action of the BB. Its really not that hard to figure out Huntindave.

You can use clothes hanger wire if you want, stiffer always works.. just the thinner can work better in certain situations.

You can always pour on a thinner wire than what the molds call for, at least i do. Keep the temps down so you dont get any seepage along the wire. I have also poured them using egg sinker molds, which uses the do-it pull pin, which is about 3x the dia of a BB wire- it works.

No need to get you panties in a bunch. Only reason I asked (SEE BELOW) is because I have purchased bottom bouncers with blades installed on the trailing arm. I didn't know if you were doing the same.

I'm still curious about this. I have not found that the bouncers with the blades spinning on the trailing arm, (that I purchased), to make much difference in catch rates.
