MIRRORS, better field of view, backup camera with boat behind you, you cannot see what's behind the boat. I guess my experience comes from backing semi tractor trailers, no backup cameras there.

I don't think that analogy holds true. Have you tried this system?

When I tried to back from the street to the garage the knob would not turn the front wheels aggressively enough to make the 90* turn.

Maybe it is great when you start straight and mostly have to go straight. I'll play with it more come spring. How long until March?

If you have a vehicle with no possible rear view out the back, you will find that the rear facing video camera are wonderful.

Also, a lot of folks are also mounting a 2nd video camera on the back of the boat and then using a split screen in the cab to be able to both see the front of the boat as well as what is behind the boat when backing.

With mirrors, it is impossible to see what is directly behind the truck or what is directly behind the boat. But rear facing video cameras with an appropriate video display solve the problem.

Yes, and if you add in a satellite camera you can also monitor the top of the boat too. . . . LOL

I with Mooner on this one, that's exactly what I have to do. Retired, you take it from there.

Mirrors 100% of the time. The camera is only for backing onto the trailer. Once the trailer is hooked up the camera is useless.

I think it was an $1,800 option for the back up system on my F-150. It came with the truck I wanted, so I was stuck with it, an I was kinda excited after seeing the commercials. Well, after typing in all the tongue to axle distances, affixing the stickers on the trailer, and the electonic programming, I have never used it. with the boat on the trailer, all the camera shows is the nose of the boat. I suppose it would be helpful with the empty trailer, but after 3 years, I still have not used it. I just use my mirrors.
