Take your oil filter off and cut it in half, look for any small bits of nylon particles. If they are present the balancer has already started breaking apart, they will clog your oil passages in your powerhead leading to catastrophic failure- usually a thrown rod, seized piston etc. So if you see those particles it's time to tear engine down, replace powerhead, you're in it for alot more than 2k
I don't want to be doom and gloom , just giving you a worse case scenario but one that can happen. If you caught the balancer soon enough, replace it at once- there wasn't a recal( should have been) l but it was a well known problem that did get a service bulletin.

Boat was welded and holds water for now . Little uglier than I wanted but it is what it is . Motors getting looked at by a Yamaha dealer. Not worth the risk for the engine to blow with the harmonic balancer. It was making a singing noise like the youtube videos made it sound like. Not good but lesson learned I suppose.

Hope you caught the balancer in time. I love my Yamaha f150, they are great running motors.

ISU

You are learning the number one definition of the word that spells BOAT

B -- Break
O -- Out
A-- Another
T-- Thousand.

But, I expect that when you have your maintenance completed, you will have a wonderful rig.

I have always enjoyed my time boating in different Crestliner boats. In particular the Yamaha 150 engines is one of the best engines on the market.

Be safe

Good deal that you got it welded so soon. Lets hope that your dealer can take care of the balancer before it came apart. My friend has the same motor and did not catch it in time ,$4000+ for a new power head.
