There are plenty of other options. The internet for one, also I don't know if they are everwhere, but Academy sports and outdoors has a great selection and lower price than those 2 stores. To me Cabelas and Bass Pro are like amusement parks, you are paying a little extra for the scenery.

Well let's see here. Johnnie builds an empire. Sells a lot of boats with the BPS name. They might not have a resale value but people like them for some reason. He then buys Ranger boats. No more competition there, huh. The way I see it, it's only a matter of time before he will buy Lund. No more competition in the aluminum boat line either. This is just my prediction.

Brunswick has been buying companies, not selling.

It would be sad to see Cabelas go that way. I am not a fan or Basspro. I don't hate them, I have just had issues with them. I have found that my dealings with Cabelas are pretty smooth.

In Bismarck it doesn't matter, the nearest Cabelas is 300 miles away. Dick's Sporting Goods is a joke for hunting and fishing gear; apparently they focus exclusively on high margin clothing. Scheels is OK but overpriced most of the time, so I'm going to Runnings Farm and Fleet or Dakota Tackle (local outfit).

If I can't find what I want locally, Cabelas can suck it because Amazon beats them on price 100 times out of 100.

could be worse, you could have a Sportsman's Warehouse like we do where about the only fishing tackle they sell is fly fishing stuff
