Question How many fishermen in boat

We are planning an trip to Devils Lake, ND (about 12 hour drive) this fall and was wondering what peoples thoughts/experiences are on fishing four people out of a boat. We were planning on three of us, but there is interest in including a fourth. I have mostly fished with only two in the boat in the past. We will be fishing out of a Lund 1875 Pro V with windshield. Your thoughts would be appreciated!

I like just 2 myself. Four people is a crowd, and if it's a 12 hour drive, I imagine it's going to be multiple days. Not good.

I had 4 of us out on the Mississippi in my 1850 fishawk sc and it was ok for casting all depends on how you like to fish . Two is best tho .

I fish four out of a boat, quite often. Guess I've gotten used to it. No problem. The fourth person becomes a problem if the weather stops cooperating, or day three, whichever comes first. A major consideration is the experience level of the fishermen(and women) involved. 4 is possible if the weather is nice and you use the trolling motor or backtroll. Still doable if you are drifting.

That being said, if the motor operator has little or no experience with multiple lines, don't do it. It can really raise h--l with friendships and spoil a good trip. Rent a boat when you get there, if need be.

Two is awesome, but being a dad of a kid with pals, fishing has become a group event for me. 4 is standard, 5 happens. I wouldn’t trade a 4 person trip with fam for a two person trip with guys for anything. Perspective determines the ideal number, IMO.

Three in that boat and one guy will be by himself up front. If you don't mind crowding you can put three in the back and one up front and troll. For casting three would be the max.

Depends on the size of the boat and what the presentation is. Anchored or drifting with the wind 4 is no problem. Backtrolling 3 is OK. Trolling cranks forward 3 is OK 2 is better. Casting forget it with 4. I think the problems arise if the people in the middle have to sit side by side. There seems to always be problems with the two in the middle.

My preference for more than one day is two.
